EARLY LEARNING AND PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS
The City of Pinole Recreation Department offers two progams for children 3 years (by September 1st) to 5 years of age. These programs are designed to offer your child both a social and educational experience. Activities include age appropriate academics, crafts, cutting with scissors, using glue and paste, painting, circle time, show & tell, music, science, and storytime.
The Tuesday-Thursday Early Learning class for 3-year-olds, is designed for your child's first learning experience. Activities emphasize social skills, following directions, small and large motor development, and an introduction to shapes, colors, and sizes. Children must turn 3 by September 1st.
Our Pre-Kindergarten programs on Monday-Wednesday-Friday for 4-year-olds build on the skills learned in the Tuesday-Thursday class and introduce ideas and concepts they will need in Kindergarten, including numbers (pre-math), letters (pre-reading), recognizing their printed name and writing it themselves. These classes offer age-appropriate activities that include academics, crafts, painting, circle time, show and tell, music, science, and story time. We also offer further opportunities to develop their fine and large motor skills. Children must be eligible for kindergarten or transitional kindergarten the following fall.
Our three 12-week sessions run from September through early June. We also offer an 8-week summer session.
